Paydata is slang for datafiles which are worth quite a lot of money. Throughout the SR games, if your party has a competent decker, you'll be able to retrieve paydata (usually from the Matrix) and then sell them on the Shadowland BBS for nuyen. Note that the transaction is not instantaneous; you'll need to wait until you return from the next run before the nuyen is made available to you.

- In Hong Kong, there seems to be a bug with the paydata from Uninvited Guests: the nuyen will be made available to you only after you have completed 2 runs.
- In Shadows of Hong Kong, an exception is made for the paydata you retrieve from Namazu: you receive the payment instantly.
Special consequences in Campaigns[ | ]
- In Hong Kong, recovering the paydata in the Bad Qi run is required if you want to have the option of infiltrating Prosperity Tower via the loading dock.
